If and when Testosterone Therapy (TRT) is indicated, safe and agreed upon by both the doctor and the patient – treatment will commence using a transdermal gel application. This is due to its short half life. If this is therapeutic and restores testosterone levels to normal parameters and improves symptoms then continuation of the gel application is an option or switching to injection is also an option. These are the two main treatment modalities for TRT. A six month trial period minimum is advised unless there is a complication with the treatment.
It is a necessary requirement to undergo regular monitoring which involves blood tests every three months.
